What is Tango?

TANGO is a dance conversation between two people. You and a dance partner can express musical moods through improvised movements.  You can dance simple tango after one lesson, but spend a lifetime developing your own dancing.

Tango originated in the “Rio de la Plata” at the turn of the last century.  Tango was born within the immigrant and lower class communities in this area.  During the next few decades tango spread throughout South American society and then throughout the world.  Tango communities exist in most countries of the world, and more are being born all the time.
